A Letter From Heaven by George Floyd* (poem in progress)
To those who do not live in truth, no more looting, no more dismissing the plight of your fellow human beings.
My name is George and I write to you from a different land. I am grateful for the soulful conversations that I am receiving.
I'm here with Trayvon, Genevieve, MLK, Ghandi, Sojourney, James Farmer and many others. To address the elephant in the room, I forgive the officers who took my life, when I cried out for mercy for over 480 seconds. (Life, love, hope, I breathe again.)
[I breathe a deep victorious breath.]
I forgive wholehearted, but I hope that a new style of justice can be served, the justice that MLK died for and many still yearn for. MLK said earlier today that he and others witnessed the same brutality and injustice in their time. -- Why is a darker shade a crime?
I hope that my America makes new room for equality and equity starting this June. I would be remiss to see that another Trayvon leave the earth before fulfilling his or her full bloom.
If you cut a young tree down with your actions and words, we'll never know or experience the fruits that it can bear. -- I reflect.
There's a lot that I see that brings me to tears, even as I'm here in paradise. But I also see new souls finding the inner strength to speak up and take action, even if it is just within themselves.
TYFBY. TYFYE. TYFYL.
Please, I implore you all to have heart and see each other as we truly are: human, universally united, one people.
"We don't silence our people and tell them that they cannot have justice, we dismiss the feelings of hurt from our people and tell them that they have Netflix.
May this not be true." - fernthepoet *I hope that I do not offend anyone with the chosen title. It came to me. I could not deny this work its existence. With love and in unity of purpose.
Have you read: Your goal-setting...?
